Welcome to my blog. I recently joined Team in Training through the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and I figured I should start a blog on my whole experience. Today was my first day of training. They're preparing us for the Nike Women's Marathon this October. I haven't ran since high school and to tell you the truth I really didn't like it then. I grew up in a home where both parents ran. Most Saturdays and Sundays were spent at races, watching my parents run. I never liked it. I thought the sweating and the smell were gross. Who would have thought I'd be training for my first marathon? Right now I'm not sure what's going to be a bigger test, the training or raising the donations for LLS. Any good fundraising ideas would be greatly appreciated.
So, back to today. Beginner's started off doing 2 miles. With how I'm feeling right now I almost wish I would have gone farther but it was hot and I was hungry. I'm definitely getting some better shoes. My feet are a little sore. I couldn't ask for a better team. Everyone is so positive and supportive. I already know this is going to be a great experience.

This is terrific! I couldn't imagine 'starting out' running 2 miles. I couldn't imagine running down to the end of my block! This is a great way to keep yourself accountable and update everyone as to your training.
ReplyDeleteHANG IN THERE!
Right now I'm trying to imagine running 26 miles. Will I get bored or hungry? What about going to the bathroom? I know there are porta pottys along the course. It just seems weird to stop running, pee, and then keep going.
